The daughter of Ira Rosenberg and his wife, Willow Rosenberg was born and raised in Sunnydale, California, in a Jewish household. Willow is Xander's best friend, although she wishes they were more than just friends.
Willow is very intelligent, great with computers, and is always helping Giles and Buffy with their Slayer research. Her ability with computers has been recognized by an unnamed yet very prestigious computer-software company. She was also chosen to substitute teach for Jenny Calendar when she was murdered.
Willow is not a mean-spirited girl and can be charmingly naive. She has a gentle soul and is always ready to give someone the benefit of the doubt. She never tries to be insulting or offensive towards anyone. Shy and unassuming in front of strangers she is quite capable of taking charge if the situation calls for it. Confident in her intellectual gifts Willow has self-image problems.
Willow doesn't have many (if any) true girl friends, and is quite pleased to be part of Buffy's world. She has a girl friend to confide in, talk to, and kill Vampires with. Now there is more to her life than computers and school work.
Willow's had a crush on Xander for a long time, but Xander has eyes only for Buffy. That is, until this wierd otherwordly thing happens and all of a sudden Xander starts liking Cordelia, of all people. But that's okay, Willow's got her own new interest, and he's so different.
Willow is played by Alyson Hannigan.
